The width of the entrance to the Tyne between the Pier Heads is 1,180 ft. and the depth 30 ft. (L.W.0.8.T.)

The width of the entrance between the piers is 230 ft., and varies from that to 500 ft. up to the entrance to the various docki.

The depth of channel ulso varies, and is dredged to the level of the sills at the various docks. That to the Imperial Dock is dredged 13t, ins. (L.W.O.S.T.).

The width of the dredged chamel from the Tees to the entrance to the Middlesbrough Dock is and the depth 15 ft.

The dredged channel from the Pier Heads to a point nearly abreast of Cliffords Fort is about 400 ft. in width. From thence to the North- umberland Deck it varies from about 570 ft. to aluzi 1,020 ft. From the Northumberland Dock to Newcastic Quay it varies from about 135 ft. to about 780 EL.

The channel from the BAL to the Northumberland Dock is in course of being dredged to about 30 ft. (L.W.O.S.T. And from thence to Derwenthaugh (above Newcastle) to about 25 ft. (L.W.O.S.T.).
